The Yarrow is a long-lasting plant that is known for its penchant to help its environment by providing soil depth and for its many medicinal uses for humans. As humans destroy the environment, who or what will be left for the Yarrow to help? A lament in verse and maybe a prayer at the same time. Is it in vain?
Hello.
My name is Yarrow.
You can call me Larry.
I am the last flower on earth.
I have lived for a thousand years.
I am known as a team player.
Not much team around here now.
Humans destroyed everything.
Including themselves.
I don’t think they had permission.
Instead, they showed their disrespect
To Nature that gave rise to them
Nourished them
Allowed them to develop.
Many of my weaker cousins
Died from the climate changes
The rest from neglect
And disrespect.
But I’m still here
Will live a thousand years more.
It’s lonely
And a waste of beauty
Let’s see if the next group
Or what’s left of this one
Does better.
I don’t think so.
Larry will be here.
Will you join me?
BTW, if you want to learn more about what it will look like when it grows some more, its many benefits to the environment and humans, and what will be lost when humans fuck up the planet:
